Career Developers Have Disappeared

... at least they have according to StatsCan.

Statistics Canada has just published their National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2011 (Preliminary release). We were NOC 4213. Now NOC 4213 has gone.

They refer to public consultations. I wonder who they asked?

The former group 4213- Employment Counsellors has now become group 4156 and is still called "Employment Counsellors."

So it would appear. However, I notice that we seem to have been bumped up a level. Doesn't that second digit make us into 'professionals' of some sort?

Yes it does, NOC level A occupations are designated as professionals in "insert industry". I would suspect that one of the reasons the change has been made is because under education in the 4213 group it states that a bachelor's degree or college diploma is usually required and occupations that require a bachelor's degree are normally assigned to NOC Skill level A.
